About this painting: I painted this from a plein air study I did in my back yard in April 2021. I had just had my second dose of the Covid vaccine, and things were opening up in our area. As I painted the plein air study, the beautiful streaming light through the trees coupled with the beautiful blooming and leafing spring trees made me think about what we've all been through over the last year and more. I thought about the rebirth that occurs every year as the forest bursts with new growth and new life in the spring.  I personally felt a rebirth of sorts this spring, especially after being fully vaccinated and finally being able to be with family and hug my children and grandchildren again. It felt like walking from darkness "into the light." My goal was to keep this piece impressionistic, with small brushstrokes of color.
